Green Card Backlog Increased by 8% in March

The U.S. Department of State's National Visa Center (NVC) observed an increase in the backlog of immigrant visas (IV), showing an 8% increase from 326,415 in February to 351,624 in March.

Understanding the Backlog

The backlog represents the number of green card applicants whose cases were "documentarily complete" and ready to be scheduled for an interview. "Documentarily Complete" signifies that all required forms and documents have been submitted and accepted by the NVC.

The backlog increased from 374,532 in February to 404,459 in March, an 8% increase. The number of people scheduled for green card interviews also saw an increase — 52,835 in March compared to 48,117 interviews in February.
